It's FREE!! I got it from Google Android Developer Labs. :-P

As a developer in Hong Kong, I will NOT develop any Android apps within these months. There are some points:

• The Android Marketplace is NOT ready for Hong Kong. You apps cannot be bought in Hong Kong, and your apps cannot be sold to any countries. There are many developers asked for the details, but Google cannot give us any clear answer. Before the solution come out, I am not interested to working as a voluntary Android developer. Google suggested we can put some ads inside the apps, but all we know (at least for the Hong Kong market) the conversion rate is very low.
• I got the Nexus One from Google, and there is NO built-in Chinese input method. I assumed a mobile phone should be designed for general customer, you cannot expect they know how to install 3rd-parties input method. iPhone Chinese input is no good at all, but at least it is here. Text input of your mother tongue should be a basic feature come with any mobile phone.
• The user interface is not really easy to use. Even those built-in apps, e.g. Google Maps, there are many important functions, but they are hide in the menu and even the Google Map labs. It takes me many time to dig for a simple function. What will a lady in your mother's age think?

Obviously Android will have a big market share within 2-3 years, as many brand will use this OS to build their products. At this moment I will not suggest any friends (non-IT background) to buy any Android-based phone. I won't develop any Android apps too. Maybe somedays later, Android's market share reach a higher level. I will have no choice but to support this platform. Some how similar to Windows VS Mac OS X. You know how's Windows platform is...... :P

這是 Google 送的 Nexus One，是參加 Android Developer Labs 的禮物。這應該是用來「收買」開發者人心的東西了吧。但用了數天，倒發覺 Android 系統有點問題，這些問題嚴重程度足以令我不會開發任何 Android 程式。

• Android Marketplace 現階段並不支援香港。使用者不能在香港購買你的程式，你亦不能將寫好的程式賣出去。我想其實沒什麼開發者願意替 Google 當「義工」開發 Android 程式了吧。
• 系統本身是支援繁簡中文環境的，但卻沒有內建任何中文輸入方法。我認為輸入母語是你選購一部電話的基本功能吧～你總不能要求所有使用者都懂得自行安裝的。
• 使用者介面本身的設計不太易用。例如在 Google Maps 中內建了很多功能，卻分別「躲」到不同的功能表，甚至 Google Maps labs 中，我也用了不少時間找出來，你可以想像一個跟你媽媽差不多年紀的女仕會有什麼反應嗎？

隨著越來越多廠商推出使用 Android 系統的手機，可以預見 Android 的市場佔有率將會快上升。但現階段我實在覺得 Android 不太適合普羅大眾使用，我亦暫時不會寫任何 Android 程式。或許有一天他的市場佔有率到了一定百分比，我也沒有選擇的餘地。就像 Windows 跟 Mac OS X 的情況一樣，大家都知道 Windows 系統的情況。 :P
